  • SERVES & SIZING
Cake sizes start from 6inch round to 10inch round. Standard height for all cakes are 6inch tall. Height can be made taller on request. The size of your cake will depend on the amount of serves you require. There are 2 serving sizes - 'Dessert Serves' and 'Coffee Serves'. Dessert serves for when the cake is the primary dessert. Coffee serves for when there is a main dessert and the cake is served as a smaller portion with coffee/tea. See example below.

Make sure the cake is not too cold and not too warm. Use a large clean knife and a clean board for support (chopping boards are great). See image below

Collection of orders are between 10am - 10.30am unless previously discussed otherwise. If you are not on time and no communication is made, your order will be left on a small table at the door at your own risk. Once your order is collected or delivered it is no longer the responsibility of Taste That! by Tania. The cake box opens by lifting the top part of the box therefore carry the box from the bottom NOT the sides. Place one hand underneath so that the box has support. Place the cake box on a firm FLAT surface eg: passenger floor or boot of car - yes it will be safe. Not in direct sunlight or heating vents. DO NOT transport on the car seat or passenger lap. Travel with the air con on especially on a hot day. When possible refrigerate immediately in the box. DO NOT take the cake out of the box. If you need to transport the cake again make sure the cake is very cold - straight out of the fridge. Cold cake = Firm icing = Less chance of slipping around. Drive EXTRA CAREFULLY. Take care when driving around corners, over speed humps, on steep hills and avoid sudden braking. Refer to the 'Cake Guide' placed on the box on how to prepare the cake for serving. I have attached a copy below.
  • WARM/HUMID/WET WEATHER
I would love the cake to be 'on display' but when it is a hot and/or humid day this can cause problems. Your cake has ingredients of butter and chocolate. When it's hot these will begin to melt. My suggestion would be to - 1. Take photos and cut your cut at the beginning of your event. Then pop it in the fridge until half hour before serving. OR 2. Keep your cake in fridge and take out just before you want to take pictures and cut cake. REMEMBER - your cake is made of perishable ingredients. Keeping it out in warm to hot conditions for long periods of time can alter the flavour of your cake. Humidity can cause the cake to 'sweat'. Small droplets of moisture may appear on the surface of the cake. This will NOT affect the flavour of the cake just the appearance. It is something that cannot be avoided. What you can do to try prevent this is - 1. After picking up the cake place in fridge in the box immediately or as soon as you can. 2. If your function is at home take out of fridge 45mins before you are displaying it. KEEP THE CAKE IN THE BOX for 30mins to come to room temperature slowly. 3. Put the air conditioner on. This will help. 4. If your function is at a venue, the cake is the very last thing you pop in the car. 5. Make sure the car is cool and the air conditioner is on. Not following the suggestions above will be at your own risk and not the responsibility of Taste That! by Tania.
